Welcome Venexians!

My Brothers and Sisters of the Chosen.

Welcome to Venexian Vampires!

The foremost Organ of the Court of Venexia

First May we thank you all for your great work within the city since we took our rightful place as rulers.

The city seems to prosper, and the Blood is good and plentiful.

The Pact has held, and crime is low among the stock.

But we must be vigilant. We cannot afford to avert our eyes from the tasks we still have ahead of us.
Not even for a moment.

I hear faint echoes of whispers in the alleys. Whispers that speak of dark dealing, plots of Sabat against Sabat.
This is not good my Brothers and Sisters.

Take care! And do not let indolence and satiety give rise to forgetfulness.
We all remember the Blood Wars and those we lost.

All to easily we can return there if we sleep before our time.

But let us not dwell to long upon the mistakes of times past, may this news sheet herald better days filled with fine festivals and plentiful blood for all.

There will be much more to follow, please watch these pages for all the currant news, views and events here in Venexia.

If you have new, views, event or promotions you wish to share with your fellow Venexians then do not hesitate to contact the Editor  ( acting editor Baal Zobel)

Until  we meet again I wish you good Blood and long nights.

Festival of Blood

In a few nights from now the house of Bathory will bring us the Festival of Blood.

We hope you will all attend, and that the House will provide for us all a most memorable Event.

We caught up with Viscontessa Bridget recently and asked her for a few words!

The Viscontessa Bridget sit’s down upon the couch facing the reporter spreading her deep blue skirts over the cushioned seats.  Reaching forward she lifts the wine glass to her lips as she smiles slowly towards the gentleman.  “Welcome to the Caffe Grande, you wished to speak to me?”

The reporter fiddled nervously with the pen in hands as he searched for his notebook.  His eyes taking in the Grandeur of the Caffe he took note of the rich furnishing, the velvet hangings and paintings upon the walls.  The Bathory surely lived a sumptious life.  Retrieving his notebook and opening it, he adjusted the rim of his glasses upon his face as he peered at the Viscontesses lounging before him.  “Ahh yes, pardon m’lady.  Would you mind telling me about this Masquerade you are to be holding?”  He looked at her inquiringly poised to write.

A soft smile appears upon the lady’s lips though what reflects within her eyes is a slyness hidden quickly as she shutters her lashes taking a slow sip of her wine as she contemplates her words.  Her fingers trace a pattern upon the arm rest “La Festival di Notte.” She gives pauses as if for effect. “It is a tradition within the Bathory familia to show those who work for us once a year how much we appreciate all they do.  So this one night, we the Bathory and others of our kind shall come together to show the Human Race our appreciation.  They shall be our most Honored Guests.”  Her lips curl as if in genuine amusement as she looks over at the Reporter.  “We shall dance upon the roof of the Caffe Grande beneath a ceiling of stars.  Tis romantic, no?”

The reporter adjusted his cravat quickly at the Viscontessa’s husky voice, averting his gaze as he wrote all she explained.  “It sounds as if you are showing a great kindness to the humans. They must feel very honored to be invited to such a noble house and occasion, m’lady.” He glanced up towards her as stated this.

“Yes well the Bathory have always been known to show their kindness upon occassion.  We can afford to be generous with the humans when we wish.. The Masquerade shall be such a delicious occassion.  This was a tradition started by my Aunt, Countess Erzebet Bathory and one we have continued through the centuries.  It is a Festival of blood *small pause with a smile towards the reporter* lines as we celebrate family. Many will come.”  She stands and shakes out her skirts. “Perhaps we shall even see you there and we shall have a drink m’lord.”

The reporter noted the pause as he was writing furiously and wondered about it.  Standing he bowed to the Viscontessa “Thank you m’lady for your time.” he quickly gathered his things and left looking about him even as he noticed the human hanging from the entrance on a hook with the burnt hands.  A Festival of Night to celebrate humanity.. or was this a Festival of Blood and the humans a sacrifice?

So miss it at your peril !

Enrapture!

Follows a report from House Drakul, of a recent Enrapture.

Over the day of Tuesday 22th Novambra, we are very pleased to be able to report that an Enrapture took place in Venexia given by the House of Drakuli.
The experience was overwhelming, and the Isle crowded with rejoicing and excitement.
Mikkah Rosi Drakul, leader of the House of the Drakuli Coven had chosen a human Ardarious Lightheart as a welcome member of the House Drakuli.
Dogaressa Mikkah tells us about the experience briefly:
"I can tell you that the experience was very different and above all, most very tiring in the end. A lot was taken and given in this Enrapture. Yet I do not for one moment regret any of the process at all. It was a beautiful dark feeling to give of my blood to someone worthy of honor and loyalty. Ardarious has been in our services for a long time. He has certainly earned the title to be a Drakuli"
She continued:
"We wished for this Enrapture to live long in the hearts of those who watched, that they may experience our great traditions in the flesh, and learn the old ways, should they themselves one day be called upon to Enrapture"
And it was indeed a great spectacle for the people of Venexia, and an education in our dark traditions.
Asked of the vita itself she said:
"The vita itself was powerful and the essence within it was unspilled and untainted when given. It was a glorious moment and an experience never to be forgotten"
There was much rejoicing and celebration at the emergence of  the new Novus Ardarious Lightheart, who we all welcome with open arms to the House of Drakul.

So Let us hope then that our new Brother Ardarious is worthy of his place in the fine and ancient House of Drakul, Honoured of the seven, Guardians of the Books.

FLIGHT OF FANCY

A day or so back as I stood dreaming on the roof of the guild hall.
I spotted far off in the distance something swooping and diving on the breeze. Eventually it turned towards me and as it came closer I saw that it was a young Female. She ;landed and we exchanged pleasantries. I asked her about the strange contraption which she was using to glide above the city. She told me it was a new invention and that she was trying it out just for fun. I mentioned that I should very much like to write about it in the VV and that if she cared to send me a note of her experiences then this is what I would do. This is what she had to say.

Mariella Del Sogno's Guide to Gliding in Venexia.

After a short while spent adjusting the hand bar and the foot pegs of her new Leonard Glider she was ready to go.
Mariella closed here eyes and leap off the highest tower in Venexia.
What started as a gasp soon became a little giggling as she honed in on the nearest scent of live blood, the first point of her little game of flight!
She swooped down fast towards her first victim of whim. The strong gust of air created by the wings carried off the lady's hat into the canal which made her laugh and lose control for a moment.
Adjusting her weight she found she could catch the little pockets of air rising from the ground, and so she soared higher and higher up into the sky towards the Basilica.  A sister of the Daemonicans  standing on the Balcony shock her fists at her! Ha, this is fun she though.

Turning away from the majestic structure, she tried to get as close as she could over the roofs of the Vordensian ship which would come up next, she was hoping to catch a glimpse of the most fearsome of the lot, known to be crazy enough to kill their own kind, she snarled and hissed angrily at the thought of these mad creatures and their tyranny!

She then mustered up all her strength to turn a sharp corner as she reach the end of a row of houses, and dived down towards the bay just so she could try to fly as low as she could.
She took the glide under the two drawbridges without diving hitting the water!
Satisfied with that challenge, she circled over the private houses and then flew towards her favourite part of Venexia.  The sound of wind resonated through the pantheon dome of the building like a choir accompanying the musicians playing on stage.  She smiled again for the teatro was her home.

When the dust devils are hiding, it gets tricky to spot rising air from the ground, but she devised a method by chance when the end of her Leonardo Wings slide against one of the tall red flag poles at a slight angle. This propelled her upwards as she turned the corner towards the Bordello gliding over the roof just an inch safe of a crash!
She would smiled to herself at the sight of the half naked Females and the one male buried beneath them....the cold wind she brought to them would do nothing to interrupt their passion!

Perhaps she thought, one day, another would be brave enough to fly with her, to race pass the sharp buttress that line the buildings, to manipulate the currents of unpredictable air bloeing in form the lagoon, and to enjoy the brief moment of carefree exhilarating fun, she shouted out to everyone and no one  "Let your dreams take flight!"
