Juliet Leque, owner of the popular Green Dragon Tavern and leader of the human 'Vita Borghesia' community, provided her insights and perspectives from the 'human' angle
on life amidst the swirling chaos of the competing sabats of Venexia.
To Venexia citizens, both human and immortal, Juliet is well known as the affable owner of the Green Dragon, a friendly place to escape the pressures of life and engage in interesting conversation, feast on the best Chicken Soup, Rabbit or Pigs blood Stew, share a beer or glass of wine with friends or enjoy spontaneous musical entertainment by her staff or the occasional patron.
She fosters a warm and safe environment not just for the patrons of her establishment
but for all of the members of 'Vita Borghesia' under her leadership.
Juliet reflected on her leadership style "I help guide my members and take care of them to the best of my abilities and I make sure that 'mi famiglia' honors the court and their laws." While Juliet is a serious, no-nonsense leader, she has a very tender side as well. Juliet explains, "... for me, it's most important to make those, who are part of my family feel as though they really do 'belong' and don't feel alone or like a stranger." In fact, Juliet refers to herself as the 'Mama' of her Borghesia family.
When asked about those who refer to the Borghesia as 'Blood Whores', she cringes, frowns and responds, "I would see that person as clearly not knowing of what they speak. They have a lack of knowledge of what and who the Borghesia really are. I would call them narrow-minded at a minimum."
Continuing on that path of thought she offered, "We, as Borghesia, make this choice.
We are not forced to be Borghesia, however, we are not to be compared to the 'blood gaunts'.
Speaking about situations where a Borghesia is disrespected or mistreated she said
"If I have knowledge that a Vita Borghesia has been offended or unjustly attacked in breach of court law, I immediately call this to the attention of the Court via the leaders of the Covens. Even in the event of minor disputes, I encourage 'mi famiglia' to come to me to assist and mediate a resolution for them.."
By the same token, Juliet acknowledges that members of the Court should not hesitate to come to her if a member of the Vita Borghesia have caused any trouble so that a peaceful solution can be brokered.
Juliet emphasizes that "When an immortal rents a Borghesia, it is for feeding only and not sexual service." Juliet has had complaints from her familia about such offenses. she continued,
"If an immortal requires sexual service, that can be found at the Bordello."
Regarding the recent sale on renting borghesia, Juliet provided an update saying,
"Sales still seem slow. Many Borghesia view this as more free time and don't seem to mind. The sale has, however, seemed to improve on the rental of newer members of Vita Borghesia."
In considering lowering the prices yet again Juliet explained,
"If we drop the prices further, an extreme upsurge in sales may put the Borgehesia
at risk of poor health and low energy. We wouldn't want a Borghesia to die
in the arms of an immortal during a feeding, now would we?"
Juliet is planning events that will include visiting each of the covens, "I plan to arrange for visits to each of the covens for 'mi famiglia'. I want them to learn about each, gaining a social knowledge and insight while meeting face to face. I want to make sure that the Vita Borghesia are not strangers on the street." She also has more plans for events as well to include a Poetry Night at some point, however,
those are still on the drawing board at this time.
In closing, Juliet wanted to convey a message to the citizens of Venexia about the Vita Borghesia,
"We are all different. Some still need an adjustment period as they enter into the life of a Borghesia while others are more experienced. Please get to know us." She then added,
"If you see a Borghesia being attacked in the streets, please offer an assist."
